The National Population Commission (NPC) |
For the 2023 population and housing census to be successful, the National Population Commission (NPC) has designated 3,230 localities to be listed in the "Compendium of Localities."
Muhammad Mutta-Rini, the NPC federal commissioner for Zamfara, said this on Monday during a two-day workshop in Gusau on the "State Level Compendium of Localities."
The workshop is being held to complete the list of localities in the state that the commission's Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) process identified.
The compendium used to direct the 2023 National Population and Housing Census will include the final list of EAD localities.
Participants from different industries, according to Mr. Muttaka-Rini, would collate the locations found during the EAD exercise. According to local government areas, the list will identify the localities, he claimed.
Mr Muttaka-Rini commended the stakeholders for their support during the EAD exercise, where 3,230 localities were demarcated in the state.
“The commission especially commends the state government, local government authorities, traditional institutions, the media, and other stakeholders for their support during the Enumeration Area Demarcation and efforts to deliver more data for the locality level,” he said.
