Following the kidnapping of 30 children in Katsina who were working on a farm, bandits are demanding at least N30 million.

At least 22 children were abducted for ransom while picking crops from a farm in a community, according to Katsina police spokesman Gambo Isah.
On Sunday, the kids were taken from a farm between the villages of Kurmin Doka and Kamfanin Mailafiya.
A local who claimed his son had been taken, according to Reuters, put the total number of kidnapped children at 30.
He claimed that the armed bandits let at least two kids go away. According to the resident, the shooters let one of the kids leave because the kid was sick.
“Only four of the children are boys. The rest are girls aged below 14 (years),” the resident told Reuters.
One of the leaders from the villages attacked by the bandits disclosed the kidnappers had made contact and demanded N30 million, about $68,435.
