According to reports on the Angola24Horas and Angop websites, Attorney-General Helder Pitta Groz claimed that Angola has issued an arrest warrant for Isabel dos Santos, the daughter of former President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
Mr. Groz claims that the search for Ms. Dos Santos is being coordinated by the Angolan government and Interpol.
While working as CEO of Sonangol, the national oil firm of Angola, she is charged of misusing and embezzling public monies.
The government has filed numerous criminal and civil lawsuits against her, totaling more than $5 billion (£4.1 billion). These accusations have been denied by Ms. Dos Santos.
In a conversation with The New York Times, she stated that she was available for questioning.
She told the newspaper, “My address is known; my whereabouts are known.”
“I’m not a fugitive. I’m not hiding from anyone,” she said, saying she was living in London.
She also claimed that the claims were made for political reasons.
