The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the FCT Police Command has confirmed that it has opened an investigation into the accusation made by Miss Ugwoegbu Ugomwa that one of its officers, DSP Jude Ifeanyi, attempted to rape her in their office.
Miss Ugomwa said Jude enticed her to his office and requested her to follow him so he could relieve himself in a video that was posted online. She admitted that he tried to rape her as soon as they arrived. She said that as she was acting in self-defence, he shoved her off the stairway, causing her to hurt herself.
In a statement released, the FCT police command spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, suggested that both parties are “most likely in some sort of erotic relationship,” however facts surrounding the situation have not been fully gathered as of now.
However, further research points to the likelihood that both individuals are involved in an erotic relationship. and had gone out to drink that evening, and they were really energetic.
When the claimed Officer branched into the office to relieve himself, as the video implied, he had promised to drop off miss Ugwoegbu. The rash declarations were regrettably made too late to be retracted as a result of an argument that broke out between the two parties on the stairways and led to physical struggles.
Adeh revealed that while an internal investigation for necessary disciplinary actions has been instituted against the erring Officer, it is important to state that Ugomwa was at the Command’s SCID earlier that day, to report a case of Blackmail, Threat, Defamation of character and sexual Harassment and sundry offences against another person and had lauded the investigation approach of the Officers.
However, Adeh said it was disappointing to see the command involved in their vaguely described private episode. The spokesperson for the FCT police stated that all necessary measures will be taken without limitations to ensure that justice is delivered in both cases.
