Despite the team's Wednesday loss to Colombia, Nigeria's football association head Ibrahim Gusau has given the Flamingoes plaudits.
The squad lost 6-5 in a penalty shootout to the South Americans at the current World Cup in India, failing to secure a place in the championship game.
Both teams attempted to breach their respective defences and score a goal, but to no avail, as the game finished in a scoreless draw.
Gusau, who had come to Goa to show his support for the girls, praised the women on Twitter for their "great performance."
“Amazing performance by the girls and I’m very proud of them despite the outcome of the match. Their development and welfare remains a priority to us. Well done girls👏 #SoarFlamingos,” Gusau wrote on his Twitter handle.
The Flamingos are billed to take on Germany in the third-place match on Friday.
