The Itori Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has warned motorists not to harass its labour force while they are performing their duties on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Itori.
Mr Gbenga Okusi, the Unit Commander, issued the warning while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Itori, Ogun.
Okusi emphasized the importance of cautioning motorists driving against traffic on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in the Ewekoro area because they were always adamant, harassing its personnel when warned against such behavior.
The unit commander stated that driving against traffic was the cause of some of the road crashes along this axis, particularly the one that claimed two lives and injured four people on October 1.
"We are urging motorists to avoid driving against one-way traffic on the Ewekoro axis in order to save lives and property."
"In addition, we will continue to do our best to enforce and apprehend those driving against traffic on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force."
He reaffirmed the command's commitment to continue educating motorists about the dangers of driving against traffic through public enlightenment.
To avoid mishaps during the ember months, the unit commander urged them to avoid dangerous driving and to obey traffic laws.
