Despite Russia's decision to revoke a deal enabling grain shipments, several freighters departed ports on the Ukrainian Black Sea coast on Monday.
These include the wheat-carrying freighters African Robin, SK Friendship, and Sealock as well as soybean- and pea-carrying freighters.
The UN reported that the ships, together with three other freighters, had departed Ukrainian waters on Sunday towards the Black Sea region covered by the accord.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, the UN World Food Programme's ship, the Ikaria Angel, left carrying 40,000 tonnes of grain bound for Ethiopia.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country would continue its efforts to import grains from Ukraine.
According to a plan by delegations from the UN, 16 more ships from Ukraine and Turkey were to set off through the corridor on Monday, with Russia having been informed.
