Press workers in Iran are calling for the release of Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi, two of their colleagues who were detained for covering Mahsa Amini.
According to VOA news, Ms Amini passed away in a hospital in Tehran following a vicious attack by the nation's morality police.
In a Tehran hospital where their daughter Amini was being treated for a coma, Ms Hamedi captured a picture of Amini's parents sharing a hug.
The first photograph of Ms Amini, which was taken three days after her arrest, revealed the severity of her condition even though Iran's Guidance Patrol denied any assault had taken place.
Similarly to this, Ms Mohammadi covered both the funeral for the deceased and the community protests that took place. Her reporting sparked a national protest against police brutality that is still going on today.
Iranian Etemad and other newspapers released a statement that demanded their release.
The reporters, on the other hand, were allegedly deployed by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to destabilise the nation, according to Iranian government outlets.
Since the demonstration started, the government of the country has also detained more than forty journalists, but they have not been charged with any crimes.
