Salihu Baba Alkali has been appointed executive chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue, according to Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Abubakar Inuwa Tata, who was appointed sometime in February 2020, is succeeded by him.
He was said to have started several effective reforms in the state's internal revenue production organ, which the state government put into place.
He recently started the Gombe State Revenue Recovery Tribunal, which was established on April 10, 2022, and has already started to meet.
The appointment is effective right away, according to Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Secretary to the State Government, who was informed of the Governor's approval by the Director General of Press Affairs at Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
The newly appointed Executive Chairman, Salihu Baba Alkali, is a retired Director at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
A financial management and taxation expert, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Certified National Accountants of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
He had previously served as Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service over a decade ago.
