Oyeyinka Oyetunde, a doctor, appeared before an Ikeja Special Offenses Court on Tuesday for allegedly employing negligence to kill a patient.
According to news sources, Mr. Oyetunde is accused of one count of involuntary manslaughter.
But he entered a not guilty plea.
The doctor allegedly neglected to treat a patient named Uchenna, according to the Lagos State Government, which is prosecuting the case.
The defendant is accused of committing the crime on June 16, 2020, in Isolo, Lagos State, on Ajibade Oke St.
The doctor's defence attorney, Abayomi Omotunbora, asked the court to uphold the administrative bail that had been granted to him by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate Court in the state of Lagos.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe granted the defence counsel’s request.
Abike-Fadipe held that the defendant should continue on the bail but ordered him to provide evidence of granting the bail within seven days.
The judge adjourned the case until 19 December for trial.
