Authorities in Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, have verified a recent epidemic of cholera, which has already claimed one life and hospitalised numerous others.In a statement on Saturday, the Council's information officer, Jacqueline Dakat, revealed this.
She claims that in order to stop the sickness from spreading after the outbreak, officials at the Local Government Council have sent a team of medical professionals to treat the sufferers.
Dakat further revealed that the Water and Sanitation Department and the Primary Health Care Department of the Council have been instructed to take aggressive measures to stop the spread of the disease and quarantine those victims who are most prone to do so.
Efforts to speak to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Kuden Kamshak, on the matter were unsuccessful after several calls.
