Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria's former president, brushed off as fake news a tweet that went viral in which he was cited as promoting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a presidential contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and criticising the military.
I am not a politician; I am a distinguished soldier, an army general, according to a comment from Obasanjo that went viral in a WhatsApp message. If you're seeking a thoroughly trained politician of the highest calibre, go to Lagos Bourdillon.
Obasanjo responded to the allegation through his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, and stated that he never made any remarks that denigrated his honourable military career.
According to Obasanjo, “only the military trains personnel to be good managers of men and materials. So, I cannot disparage my noble profession of politics which has no formal training. This is false and fake.”
