Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC's presidential candidate, has received vocal endorsement from Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Speaker expressed their conviction in Tinubu's track record and capability to address the various issues Nigeria faces through one of his initiatives, "The Gbaja 4 Tinubu/Shettima Presidency Project 2023," which was created in partnership with Hope for Second Chance (HOSEC) and Pad Up Africa.
On International Girl Child Day, they gave a speech in the Speaker's district of Surulere.
Numerous pupils from Surulere Constituency 1's educational districts attended the programme.
Sanitary pads were given to the girls by the organisations that educated the pupils on menstrual health management and care.
The wife of the Speaker, Mrs Salamatu Gbajabiamila, extolled the virtues and highlighted the challenges facing the Girl Child to menstrual health, citing them as bullying, stigma and lack of access to sanitary pads.
She encouraged the girls to work hard and achieve their goals. She cited her commitment to equip teenage girls across the state to earn a decent living via vocational skills programmes and access to sanitary pads.
According to the Founder of Hope for Second Chance, Ibukun Otesile, the Project was aimed at training 500 girls across five states in the country with vocational skills and 100,000 girls on the making of safe and hygienic sanitary pads.
A book “My Menstrual cycle and I” written by Dupe Oteri, was presented and distributed for free to the pupils.
Oteri said the book's purpose was to provide proper and correct information about girls' menstruation.
