The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has reported that it foiled a gunman's attempt to kidnap a foreigner on a farm in Ibadan, Oyo State.
One of the kidnappers was killed during a gun battle, according to the Corps.
Oyindamola Okuneye, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer for Oyo State, announced this in a statement on Thursday.
"The officers of the Corps yesterday (Wednesday) around 10:30pm shot one suspected kidnapper at Easy Gate Farm on Abanla Ogunmakin Road, Ibadan, Oyo State," according to the statement.
"The suspected kidnappers, numbering eight, gained entry to the farm in order to kidnap the farm's owner, a foreigner, but were met with a gun battle by the Corps' gallant officers."
"One of the kidnappers was killed by a bullet, and others escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds."
The suspected kidnappers had visited the farm in June to kidnap, and during the gun battle, one of our officers was shot.
"The state commandant of the NSCDC, Michael Adaralewa, is using this medium to call on residents of the state to work with all security agencies by providing credible information."
"They should notify security agencies about what is going on in their areas, as well as notify the NSCDC or sister agencies whenever they suspect anyone with bullet wounds in order to apprehend other members of the kidnap gang who escaped with bullet injuries."
