19 Nigerians who were being trafficked to Libya for commercial sex and sexual exploitation have been detained by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
According to Mr. Abdullahi Babale, the NAPTIP's zonal commander, the 18 to 32-year-old victims of human trafficking were chosen from the states of Abia, Kaduna, Lagos, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Enugu, and Kogi.
The Joint Border Task Force, according to Babale, rescued the survivors in the state between September 13 and September 18, and they also apprehended the alleged trafficker.
In addition, the zonal commander revealed that 18 of the survivors were women and one was a man.
According to Babale, the suspect is an indigene of Kano and was taking the victims to Libya, for commercial sex and labour exploitation, while the survivors were between the ages of 18 to 32 years.
