According to the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, the medicine Evusheld has been recommended for marketing in the European Union to treat patients in danger of dying from Covid.
Evusheld had already received approval from the EU's medication watchdog for use in such individuals to prevent coronavirus.
According to a statement from AstraZeneca, "Evusheld long-acting antibody combination" has been "recommended for authorisation in the EU for the treatment of Covid-19."
Adults and children 12 years of age and older "who are at elevated risk of advancing to severe Covid-19" are advised to use it by injection, it was added.
The most recent Evusheld recommendation from the European Medicines Agency was made in response to studies showing "significant protection against progression to severe Covid-19 or death."
