Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of the Algerian Desert Foxes, has guaranteed to start his top players when his team faces the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their next friendly.
In Friday night's narrow 1-0 victory over the Guinean Syli Stars, Belmadi started a number of his important players, including captain Riyad Mahrez, on the bench.
Nabil Bentaleb, Andy Derlot, and Moustapha Zegha, for example, had trouble having an impact on the game.
Twelve minutes from the end, Mahrez put up experienced striker Islam Slimani for the game-winning goal.
The two-time champions of Africa will now focus on their match against Nigeria on Tuesday at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
In the matchup with the Super Eagles, Belmadi said he would start his normal starters.
“We took a lot of positives from the Guinea game, but Nigeria is a different game.
“I will play with players who are used to playing with each other,” Belmadi told reporters after the clash against Guinea.
