In Gombe State, the Federal Government (FG) has given 8,228 sacks of grain to the needy and ailing.
This information was made public by Ali Isa-Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, at the beginning of the food distribution operation on Saturday in Gombe.
He claimed that the action was a part of the government's initiatives to reduce hunger among the most disadvantaged groups.
He stated that the impoverished across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will receive identical food items, such as maize, millet, Guinea corn, and maize grits (FCT).
He claims that a committee made up of community and religious leaders has been established to ensure the efficient distribution of food supplies to those in need at the local level.
To lessen the suffering of the masses, the Minister charged the committee with conducting the distribution process in a just and fair manner.
Alhaji Haruna Rasheed, the Emir of Dukku, praised the act and promised that the committee will see to it that the goods reached the intended recipients.
