Three people were killed and numerous more were injured in a new daytime terrorist attack at Dantsauni village in the Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The terrorists, who were numerous and were armed with high-tech weapons, rode into the village on motorbikes on Wednesday at around 3:55 pm as the faithful were getting ready for Asr prayer, according to an eyewitness who spoke to newsmen.
The eyewitness claimed that during the incident, scores of people—mostly women and children—were kidnapped.
The witness further stated that hundreds of locals fled for safety.
The eyewitness added that no security forces were visible during the incident, which lasted for more than 45 minutes, as the terrorists randomly began firing along the Katsina Ring Road, which is close to the town of Katsina.
Three days prior to the attack on Dantsauni village, it was reported that several terrorists had attacked the nearby settlements of Babbar Ruga, Kwarin Maikotso, and Kore villages. In those attacks, the terrorists reportedly killed two people and kidnapped eight others.
In the meantime, the State Police Command verified the incident through its spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, claiming that one person was killed and two others were hurt.
