Senator Ajibola Basiru, the director general of the campaign for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's reelection, has charged the Peoples Democratic Party with making untrue statements.
In response to PDP assertions that it had won the state's ongoing governorship election, he made this statement.
In a statement released in Osogbo on Saturday night, Basiru highlighted how the PDP's assertion may potentially ignite Osun.
The PDP declared victory in the poll, according to PRIME9JAONLINEMEDIA.
According to our information, the PDP has already declared victory in an election whose results have not yet been made public, according to Basiru. Given our familiarity with their behaviors, we are not surprised by their allegation.
"Based on the results that have been publicly announced, PDP was unable to claim any victories. This is especially true given that voting is still ongoing in one of the Local Governments where the PDP candidate is running.
"The PDP's assertion thus amounts to turning logic on its head. We urge our followers and allies in Osun and all throughout the nation to maintain composure in the face of this blatant provocation.
The people's support for Gov. Oyetola will ultimately give him victory when the body legally authorized to announce election results do so and he is declared Governor-elect, according to Basiru. "While we won't do what the desperate people in the opposition PDP did by usurping the powers of INEC, we are nevertheless confident that with the positive results from the field at our disposal," Basiru said.
