The killing of police inspector Adebayo Adeforiti and the kidnapping of a Chinese person at CGC Construction Company along the Shao/Oloru Expressway on July 2 at approximately 16:15 hours have been confirmed by the Kwara Police Command.
This information can be found in a statement made on Tuesday in Ilorin by the Command's spokesman, SP Okasanmi Ajayi.
"Some armed persons who entered the CGC construction company's offices along the Shao/Oloru Expressway and shot and killed Inspector Adebayo were believed to be kidnappers."
A Chinese national working at the facility was kidnapped by Adeforiti, a member of PMF 15, Ilorin, who was on guard duty at the company. Adeforiti then fled into the bushes.
"Upon receiving the information, CP Tuesday Assayomo, the commissioner of police for the Kwara State Police Command, ordered a thorough and covert search, rescue, and arrest operation into the case. The command's tactical teams, vigilantes, and local hunters were deployed into the area in hopes of finding and apprehending the perpetrators.
The good people of Kwara State are urged to exercise caution and provide the police with any information that can be useful for the completion of this particular rescue mission.
“The CP commensurate with the families of the deceased police Inspector and that of the abducted Chinese, promising that no stone would be left unturned towards ensuring that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement read in part.
