Portable has been disqualified as a nominee by the organizers of Nigeria's prestigious music award show, The Headies.
According to the organizers, the singer has received negative attention from the Nigeria Police and the general public.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the organizers also mentioned the police investigations into the singer's recent misdeeds.
"We regret to announce that, following numerous indicting statements made by Mr. Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as 'Portable,' and the incessant negative attention that Mr Okikiola has garnered from the Nigeria Police and the general public in recent times, the organisers of the Headies have resolved to disqualify Mr Okikiola as a nominee at the forthcoming 15th Headies Awards," read part of the statement;
"Being the subject of a criminal investigation, Mr Habeeb Okikiola is hereby disqualified from both categories of awards at the upcoming 15th Annual Headies Awards, which will be held later this year."Portable was nominated for Best Street Artiste and Rookie of the Year.
Following his nomination, the singer threatened other award nominees, to which the organizers also responded.
Smooth Promotions Limited, the Headies' parent company, had formally notified the Nigerian Police Force of the singer's threat to other award nominees in a petition.
They also asked the singer to apologize for his statement, which he later did.
However, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has recently demanded that the singer be investigated after he implied that he founded cult groups.
