President Muhammadu Buhari affirmed the Federal Government's determination to end strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other unions in the nation's tertiary institutions this week.
The President's position was announced on July 20 in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
However, the presidential aide dismissed as false media reports that President Buhari had given Malam Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, a two-week deadline to resolve the dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
"It is a pity that almost all media houses allowed themselves to be duped by interested sources who are not authorized government spokesmen," he said.
Shehu urged the media not to spread misinformation about the ongoing ASUU strike.
