Abdulmalik Tanko and Hashimu Isyaku were sentenced to death by hanging by a Kano High Court on Thursday for kidnapping and murdering Hanifa Abubakar, a five-year-old student at Noble Kids Academy.
On February 14, Tanko, Hashimu Isyaku, 37, and Fatima Musa, 26, were charged with five counts of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping attempt, abetment, kidnapping, and hiding a dead corpse.
Sections 97, 95, and 273, as well as subsections 274(b) and 277 of the Penal Code, Laws of Kano State, 1991, were violated, according to the state's assertion.
Justice Usman Na-Abba sentenced Mr. Tanko, the first defendant, to death by hanging and five years in prison for conspiracy in his ruling.
He also gave Mr. Isyaku (the second defendant) a death by hanging sentence as well as two years for conspiracy and two years for kidnapping attempts.
The third defendant, Fatima Jibrin, received a two-year prison term for conspiracy and kidnapping attempts.
